Welcome to The Brussels Review—a distinctive literary platform founded to fill a conspicuous void in Belgium’s cultural landscape. With Brussels as our home and inspiration—the capital of Europe—our name carries both geographic and symbolic weight.
The Brussels Review is published with the support of ACC VZW, and all profits are reinvested into the journal’s operations and community-driven literary initiatives.
At TBR, we believe in the transformative power of language. We exist as a sanctuary for ideas, a crucible for opinions, and a celebration of narrative in all its forms. Creativity is our currency; diversity, our foundation.
Our mission is to amplify voices from every corner of the globe. We are especially dedicated to promoting non-native English writers and translated works, while also welcoming contributions from native English-language authors. Together, these voices weave a textured and expansive literary tapestry that reflects the complexity of our world.
We uphold a clear editorial philosophy: no subject is taboo, no words are forbidden, and no voice is silenced—so long as the work holds literary merit. We believe that open dialogue and fearless storytelling are essential to meaningful literature.
TBR is published quarterly in print (ISSN 3041-4423) and continually online (ISSN 3041-4431).
We recognize the barriers faced by many writers—particularly those from economically marginalized backgrounds. As part of our commitment to equity, we occasionally offer compensation on a case-by-case basis, as determined by our editorial team. As we expand, our goal is to provide fair compensation to all our contributors.
