From the left window of my room,
I watch the world drown in chaos
and sometimes bliss.
Mother and child hurrying to church,
school kids playing in a rainbow of uniforms,
the cacophonic sound of a chainsaw in active murder of an unwilling tree,
the annoying melody of moving vehicles.
A madman whiling away life in tatters,
men throwing wild punches over coins,
impatient drivers and riders breaking bones,
scattering flesh and spilling blood.
I sit here beside my window,
watching life happen
in front of me
and without me.
I don’t know what side of this world
will snatch me first.
Forthwith, I open my door and let myself out.
